This simple utility will help you double check the number of clicks you get from each online ad you might place.
Rather than have your online ad click go directly to the intended page you use the included utility to create
a new database entry for that ad including the URL where you want the person clicking that ad to end up. Then
you have the ad send the user to the click through page with that ad id and that page will update the number of
clicks and the date and time last clicked, then send the person on to the final destination.
To use the utility simply choose Ad Tracker from the admin tools menu. You will be presented with a list
of existing ads with the number of clicks for each and the date and time each was last clicked. Click
insert to create a new ad then give the ad a descriptive name and enter the URL where you ultimately
want the user to end up when they click the ad. If you forget to include the http:// or https:// at the
beginning of the URL it will be automatically added for you. Once the information is saved the info
box will display the URL which should be used for the online ad itself at the bottom of the box and the
URL to which the user will be directed once the click is recorded displays above it. The final URL displayed
in the info box is clickable and will open in a new window so you can test it to be sure it works properly.
The link to be used for the ad is not clickable so it can be easily copied and pasted.
